A Record of the BAGE Family History Introduction to the 'Bage' Family Trees Parish Records show that the Bage family were very much in evidence in the 1700's in the counties of Shropshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. From these mainly Papermaker families there is a connection with Paper mills at Lamesley, near Chester Le Street, and Lintzford, near Ryton, in County Durham . It would seem that they moved North and settled in the surrounding Durham areas and also in the City of Newcastle, Northumberland. From these areas they spread out to Tynemouth, Northumberland, South Shields and Whickham in the County of Durham. A branch moved from Tynemouth to Stockton, probably following the work on the rail network, and further branches later went to Hartlepool, Darlington and Middlesbrough. A branch then went to Keighley in Yorkshire. Some of the U.S., Canadian and Australian branches also came from the Tynemouth families. The Family Trees for each area are listed below.
